Bill Boykin’s renovation of our Ghent home enabled us to receive a 6 figure Virginia State Tax Credit.
In undertaking the first renovation of the 2nd oldest home in Ghent for the first time in a generation, Bill was invaluable in working with my wife and I, offering suggestions, cost cutting moves, and architectural modifications that would pass the neighborhood review board. Bill not only testified before the local review Board when we were not present, answering their questions and assuaging any fears. He was also meticulous in working with our Historic Tax Credit grant writer, supplying her with Before & After pictures and adding Technical language of the renovation that would be better received by the State Agency.
His building skills and instincts were on display when the renovation uncovered 50 year old termite damage that required the replacement structure of an entire room and one of the supporting walls beneath it. Bill consulted with a member of the Norfolk Building Committee, and the project was still completed on schedule, despite this unexpected impediment.
Later, Bill took an unfinished space of our Virginia Beach waterfront home and worked with me to transform it into a Man Cave any guy would be proud to show off, incorporating my ideas into the physical support structure of the actual space. His innovative method to hide a Supporting Wall while enabling it to blend into the Architectural features of our home was a triumph of his ingenuity and builder skills. He made a Fun Room!
Dare to quiz Bill about his wine knowledge at your peril. He can put a sommelier to shame.
